DO YOU WANT TO GET ON YOUR REAL ESTATE AGENTS NERVES? HERE’S HOW

To be a good real estate agent you have to have a great deal of patience, and at the same time be a “people” person. But since real estate agents are people too, they aren’t perfect and so there are things about clients that can get on their nerves. Here are some things to avoid doing if you want to have a good relationship with your agent.

Try not to be so negative about minor things when looking at a house. Many buyers get caught up in how a house looks right now. And if it looks dirty, outdated, or in need of small repairs, you might be tempted to run. After all, how much is all that going to cost anyway? Probably not that much. You have to learn to see the finished product. Besides, the cost to make the home like new is often easy to negotiate into the deal.

Try not to blurt out your opinions when at an open house. Some people get too comfortable when looking at a house and may be overheard by sellers or agents saying negative things about the house. This may hurt you when negotiating. If you have an opinion about something you don’t like, keep it to yourself. You wouldn’t like it if somebody was walking through your house poking fun at things.

Be considerate of sellers, it’s not all about you and what you want. It’s not always just about who makes the highest offer. Sellers are motivated for different reasons. Some are entirely driven by money, for example, while others want to see their first home go to someone who will love it as much as they did. You have to help your agent build a good offer to be successful.

As a policy, don’t talk to the listing agent without your agent being their. You may inadvertently say something that could sower the deal or give the sellers an edge when negotiating the deal.

If you want to have a good experience with your real estate agent just sit back and let them handle it, your job is to say yes or no.
